What a fabulous day in sunny Sydney. I got to shoot, swap, shop and laugh all whilst covering the 2012 Winner of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Women in Focus International Women’s Day winning event – 10thousandgirl Clothes Swap! Who said women can’t multi task?

Today’s event was very important as monies donated and raised went to help women abroad in India who need the money to start their dream of having their own business, this is a great cause. Being of anglo-indian decent myself, I find this angle of helping women who are disadvantaged really inspiring, hence why I decided to photographed this event. It’s particularly important to bring the knowledge of finance into these people’s lives. Finance and the understanding of it, are the building blocks to help people start their dream as an Entrepreneur. I met many inspiring ladies, seen in the video and the stills below, all talented and they’ve impressed me with the hard work gone into growing 10thousandgirl and how they have assisted women in 3rd world countries with their dreams.

What an REMARKABLE week to be nearly finishing off an awe-inspiring month!

I started this week expanding my studio team by hiring a fabulous lady called Zayra. Then launched a secret squirrel project and finally photographing Australian Gold medal Volleyball player,  Natalie Cook. She was freakily outstanding to say the least! I can’t explain the enjoyment I gained from the doses of genuine wisdom topped off by her funny humorous and down to earth personality. She walked into the room, friendly and 110% ready to participate with me like a fresh breeze!…it truly was refreshing to photograph her with freaky genuis Shaune Clarke.

I really love my country and what sports represents to us as a nation. As I’m even writing this, I have a freaky feeling Natalie will do better than well, she will BLITZ the 2012 London Olympics! Listening, photographing and digesting what Natalie Cook had to share at the Freaky Genius event in Brisbane was remarkable. I left deeply changed and thinking how I could apply her thoughts to my little world. So I began to read her book, Go Girl and I can’t wait to finish it.

It’s surprising at what a photographer can learn on a gig! One needs to concentrate more than ever, watch the expressions, listening for the GOLD moments of wisdom and then marry it all up with an X-Factor shot! Over the years, I’ve found this to be challenging and now it’s 2nd nature. This event was special, it’s Shaune Clarke’s first Freaky Genius event and I captured the real moments of pleasure and greatness. The brilliant music made the room feel very special indeed, and then Natalie Cook had a song written for her by the uber talented Katia…I truly enjoyed capturing the emotion and the passion, in fact every minute of all the Freaky Genius’s especially Natalie Cook herself! I even got to jump in and enjoy a shot with Natalie!…as I should!!…hehe

Geez it’s only February and I certainly “feel” like I’ve worked 6 months of this year already! I’m certainly not complaining but truly “celebrating” the fact that my hard work is receiving some nice attention by the media, most recently has been Shoe String Magazine and NOW – Dynamic Business Magazine. I really feel blessed and a huge thank you to the kind people who believe in me and my work! YAY! )

WOWOWW!! 2012 is going to be a CRAKA! I don’t believe in recessions, in fact I simply can’t get my head around the concept. I believe in having positive mindset and success follows naturally… I’m fairly passionate about photography, my business and the people around me. As most of my friends and clients know I’m fairly passionate about my photography division called “Digital Branding for Entrepreneurs”. I really enjoy sharing the message to all business owners to ask themselves, are you connecting professionally with your current branding images? This has been incredibly busy and exciting week, photographing the Global Leadership Forum event featuring George Clooney , Martha Stewart and others…Ludwina of Red Tent Woman asked me to feature on her very popular radio show to talk about my passion of Digital Branding. I’m a visual creature and a tad nervous, i’ll admit this, who wouldn’t be!:)) saying this, I really did enjoy the interview process with Ludwina. I had just done an emergency photo shoot at a hospital beforehand.

Photography takes me to places and to people that really do change my perspective on life.

My message to many of my future clients over the holiday break in 2012, is simply to look at your branding images of yourself and ask yourself…”Are you connecting with your clients in a genuine, trusting and authentic manner? THE MAGIC OF GEORGE CLOONEY + MARTHA STEWART | Zahrina Photography.com

This was the week to end all in 2011! I had the best time shooting the Global Leadership Forum in Sydney on Monday. The people who attended were intelligent and professional entrepreneurs and most of these people  I knew which made my job even easier! This was important event on the Sydney Entrepreneurial calendar featured George Clooney and Martha Stewart with Jeff Taylor, Michael Fertik, Russell Simmons and Muhammad Yunus. The media were buzzing around left, right and centre to grab a glimpse of George Clooney. To hear all these speakers present to the audience and put forward their individual messages was simply awe inspiring, particularly, George Clooney as he really does use his Star status to credible use on Not On Our Watch and his Satellite Sentinel Project. Muhammad Yunus was also a stand out for me, he was thought provoking in the way he approached problems and simply solved them with opening up businesses, I really love this! His actions have brought about some of the most changes to the poorest and disadvantaged people by opening up Grameen Bank. Martha Stewart blew me away with her fashion sense, in her 70′s she walked on stage with tight black leggings and heels to die for!  Here are some shots from the day including shots of the famous Kamahl, Kevin Jacobsen, Business Chicks team, some “die-hard fans of George!” and many more to enjoy. Other images I’ve taken will be released by the organisers.  I must say, I am really looking forward to some Christmas rest + recreation!:)

2012…will be BIG! …and then I’ll need another holiday! This week, OzHarvest  announced on their Website, Blog and Facebook page, I’m their “Official Photographer” for their Charity. I’m extremely proud to be part of this dynamic  and charitable organisation. This is a charity that I am very passionate about in it’s message and actions, people and more. Simply put, it makes me feel extremely happy to be helping others in need and contributing to helping others in our society. OzHarvest feeds the hungry by rescuing food from restaurants, delivers the food  to feed the hungry, they collect TONNES and TONNES of quality food, that would have been simply thrown in the bin. This is tireless work and run by dedicated volunteers 24/7!

Ronni Khan the mind behind OzHarvest blows me away with her dynamic energy and I truly believe this is what has drawn us together to collaborate and help the needy.

After a year of photographing the Richard Branson Event, Tim Ferris, Deborra-Lee Furness to now covering the high profile event featuring George Clooney and Martha Stewart plus 2000 people…it can’t possibly get any better for my camera lens!

Photographing high profile people started my career, with Australian Icons – Famous Australian Men. Then recently this year, Kurek Ashley wrote in his book, “To Zahrina, The Photographer To The Stars, Live Your Dreams”

Coming up to the end of every year, I always reflect on the milestones be it small, medium or large ones…reflecting over a red wine, truly makes me appreciate my family and how they and I mould around each other successfully, so that our “balance” is not too out of kilter in the processes of business achievements….Saying this, 2011 has completely blown my mind in regards to the successes small to large of my family through to work. I admit I work hard, however, I’m ever soo happy making my clients see the difference I can make for them, this is highly addictive!

This week, I was appointed as the “Official Photographer” to cover this event full of successful Entrepreneurs for the Leadership Forum in Sydney. This event will be very dynamic indeed and the buzz is what I’m looking forward to capturing the moments of essence!

My latest shoot includes Entrepreneur, Kathryn who was a dream to shoot and has a dream business!  I fell in love with her awesome personality, so as usually we didn’t stop chatting! Caught up with the business of being in business in Sydney!  LOVE THIS! hehe  Her shirt really made her stand out, in fact “pop” as I like to say alot in my studio with clients and my make-up artist, Julie.  In my natural light studio, I live for my “ZONE”, this is when the “magic” is sizzling and sparking between my subject and myself. It’s a time when I’m completely immersed in my “ZONE” and the images I capture are worth ALL the energy and focus I have for my client. As an Urban Concierge, Kathryn’s business demands she connects with her clients with genuine “trust” and I usually don’t stop our shoot till we both agree we have what it takes to get the message across. I’m so incredibly passionate about Kathryn and her business, I found our shoot fairly easy to do. Her branding will feature some of the hot shots below and I’m so proud to be able to see her grow her business with my X-Factor images and connect with her clients online and offline in a magnetic way…

Life Behind My Lens – Deborra-lee Furness at  Business Chicks Breakfast + Zahrina Photography

I love the smell of networking in the morning, especially when 1300 female entrepreneurs converge in a flurry of card exchanging and networking for a Business Chicks Breakfast.

With the smell of fresh espresso in the air, I arrived at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre as event photographer for the morning which featured humanitarian & actor Deborra-lee Furness as guest speaker.

Much more than Mrs Hugh Jackman, Deborra-lee is a tireless charity worker and a voice for children world-wide who suffer from the injustices of poverty, abuse or neglect.  I felt extremely privileged to be able to get so close to this awe-inspiring woman and to witness this event from a unique perspective.

Also a passionate advocate for adoption, Deborra-lee shared stories and explained the red tape that prevents children in desperate need of a loving home from finding that comfort.  As a mother myself, this seemingly needless bureaucracy meant that there were many tears shed from behind the lens as also around the room.

The beauty of photography is its ability to capture the emotion of a moment.  Those milliseconds and the most subtle facial expressions timelessly captured and telling a story.  As they say, “a picture speaks a thousand words” and for the women in this room the emotion of the morning certainly shone through in my images.

I felt so energised and motivated after hearing Deborra-lee speak and from being surround by so many passionate and dynamic women.  The morning has certainly left a permanent impression in my heart and in my mind.

STAR STUDDED EVENT with Hugh Jackman’s wife – Deborra-lee Furness + Business Chicks

My week couldn’t possibly get any better?..I’ve had 4 shoots on this week and the “stand out” for me has been the Business Chicks Breakfast photographing Deborra-lee Furness + 1300 women all at 7am to 9am!

Business Chicks asked me to photograph this event and I certainly loved every moment from meeting and capturing the many switched on Business Chicks to chatting with Deborra-lee Furness. To give you an insight into this great event, I’ve done a HIGH DEFINITION video on some of my images capturing this great event….I did get teary behind my lens, listening to Deborra’s presentation and as a mum, I wish the red tape would just – GO for GOOD! to help the kind, healthy men and women who want to adopt children and are waiting  years to get through red tape to adopt a child…

We certainly NEED to change the way the politicians think and make a difference today like Deborra is doing….I left on such a HIGH and soo incredibly  inspired by Deborra-lee Furness and my  fellow Business Chicks!

WHO’S THE LADY WITH THE ALLURING SMILE? | DIGITAL BRANDING FOR ENTREPRENEURS | Award Winning Photographer

WOW I found an X-Factor smile!…Clarinda, has one of the best smiles I’ve seen in a long time! We both had a brilliant time in my studio recently capturing her X-factor, which wasn’t to hard to capture, I must say! She kept saying” WOW!” when I showed her the images I was capturing of her, so I felt really good I was on track with her expectations. Clarinda is a sensational presenter and dancer. She arrived with heaps of clothes and I really loved the flowing white dress she brought and what you see here in my shots. There are some outfits that I have a sense of “knowing” will work and some clothing I sense immediately won’t work, I simply put this down to trusting my intuition and sense of style. In fact, this works so well in a shoot, that as an experiment I get my client to put on a piece of clothing I’m not 100% sold on and the results are remarkable in the end. My clients see the difference in the the outfit that works and the outfit that doesn’t. It’s truly eye -opening. I really love helping and inspiring my clients to understand the reasons behind what I see in them to enhance their  X-factor.

Hey, I know first hand, all oils are not the same! Organic Skin Oil by Earth Sisters is about to go boom globally! I’ve just designed and photographed the advertising campaign and images…and I’m quietly…just too excited! This oil is the best on the market…quite simply..it works…NATURALLY, on stretch marks, scars, skin damage and dry skin ageing skin! I’ve been using it on a couple of my scars and they have gonski!  The images below are of the Mia and her Grandma who is the youngest 80 year old fit looking little lady, I’ve ever set my camera on! The love these two have for each other was ENORMOUS! I couldn’t help my self but celebrate these two beautiful creatures by creating the images for the Organic Oil.  The results will be printed and promoted all over the world…Enjoy the images and the oil, it’s all 100% AUZZIE!

Pinky and I have a great bond and I’m excited to be presenting to you these shots from the recent event in Sydney. The kids and mums who attended were really lovely and let me have freedom to photograph their little critters asleep or just about to sleep..I loved this so much, so THANK YOU!

I actually caught your x-factor and it’s priceless!” What a sweetheart Heather is, it’s remarkable how a connected branding image of you will change you world. I believe Heather’s on her way into 2012 on the front foot in business. Hey, seriously what can I say, lucky I actually took some photos of Pinky McKay! Pinky and I were in stitches laughing far too hard, we simply have too much in common! I seriously thought we’ll never get any photos taken and we should just sit down and have a cuppa! We finally did settle down and this made for the great connection you see in my images of Pinky. I call this the XFactor which I capture in all my clients. Pinky needed her professional images updated from her existing branding shots,  I’m so glad she visited me for her brilliant make-over. I salute Pinky for the results she gains with the parents of Australia. Being a parent myself,  I deeply resonate with her approach to parenting. And speaking of parenting, umm where does the time fly, my little Taj is now 3 years old!

I had the greatest pleasure of spending 3 days with Shaune Clarke in Sydney, he is the quintessential Maverick Speaker. The intimate setting was transformed into a very creative hub to allow for some awesome ideas to blossom, just my type of place. I swear there were moments of “ah-ha” all over the room.
